“Children are Our Future” Isn’t Just a Slogan for Trump

President Donald Trump loves children. He is blessed with five of them—and so far, four of the five have given him grandchildren. (No pressure, Barron.)

It is notable—but not surprising—how much of his Joint Address to Congress on March 4 2025, referenced children.

Therefore, it is notable—but not surprising—how much of his Joint Address to Congress on March 4 2025, referenced children:

  1. He talked about his Executive Order (EO) to ban men from playing in women’s sports, inspired by all-star high school volleyball player Payton McNabb. Her athletic career ended three years ago when a male posing as a female on a rival team smashed the ball in her face so hard, she suffered traumatic brain injury and is partially paralyzed on her right side. He promised Payton, who was sitting in the Gallery, that “from now on, schools will kick men off the girls’ team or will lose all federal funding.” He also said that having biological girls and women competing against biological boys and men was “demeaning for women, and very bad for our country. We’re not going to put up with it any longer.”
  2. Trump also acknowledged two young women in the Gallery seated beside First Lady Melania Trump.

  3. Trump also acknowledged two young women in the Gallery seated beside First Lady Melania Trump: “Haley Ferguson, who benefited from the First Lady’s Fostering the Future initiative and [will] become a teacher” and “Allison Berry … a victim of an illicit, deepfake image produced by a peer. With Allison’s help, the Senate just passed the Take It Down Act. … to criminalize the publication of such images online. … [O]nce it passes the House, I look forward to signing that bill into law.”
  4. With Laken Riley’s mother in the Gallery, Trump said he promised her family: “this beautiful young angel” will not have died in vain, and that the first bill he signed into law was the Laken Riley Act, which mandates detention of all dangerous criminal aliens.
  5. Keeping a promise to her mother that “we would always remember your magnificent daughter,” Trump held up an EO he signed just before starting his speech that renamed a Houston wildlife refuge in memory of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was murdered by two illegal aliens from Venezuela.
  6. Incredibly, Democrats sat stone-faced throughout this very moving moment, and wouldn’t applaud for DJ.

  7. Trump asked the new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make 13-year-old cancer survivor D. J. Daniel an agent of the United States Secret Service, because the young man had always dreamed of becoming a police officer.(Incredibly, Democrats sat stone-faced throughout this very moving moment, and wouldn’t applaud for DJ, who, as Trump noted, likely developed cancer after exposure to a toxic chemical—a not uncommon occurrence in minority communities.)
  8. Trump said that one goal of his administration is to “get toxins out of our environment, poisons out of our food supply, and keep our children healthy and strong.” He cited the startling statistic that “not long ago … one in 10,000 children had autism. Now it’s one in 36. There’s something wrong. … So, we’re going to find out what it is.”
  9. Trump also said: “My administration is working to protect children from toxic ideologies in our schools. … I signed an executive order banning public schools from indoctrinating our children with transgender ideology. I also signed an order to cut off all taxpayer funding to any institution that engages in sexual mutilation of our youth. And now, I want Congress to pass a bill permanently banning and criminalizing sex changes on children and forever ending the lie that any child is trapped in the wrong body. … [O]ur message to every child in America is that you are perfect exactly the way God made you.”
  10. And Trump made the dream of high school senior Jason Hartley—a six-letter varsity athlete with a 4.46 GPA—come true. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather all wore the uniform, and he wanted to carry on the family legacy of service. Trump announced to Jason, and to the entire nation, that his application to the US Military Academy at West Point has been accepted and he will “soon be joining the Corps of Cadets … on the Long Gray Line.” (Again, Democrats sat on their hands instead of celebrating this extraordinary young man.)
  11. Finally, Trump related that just before taking the stage on that fateful day in Butler, Pennsylvania, when he came within millimeters of being felled by an assassin’s bullet, he promised 95-year-old Malphine Fogel that he would get her son, Mark, out of captivity in Russia—and he did.

They [the Democrats] see children as political pawns. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, the next time Democrats mouth pieties about some unconstitutional, Socialist, expensive bill they want to pass “for the children” just laugh. Because their behavior during the speech proved once and for all that from conception and throughout their lives they are not for children. They see children as political pawns. Nothing more, nothing less.
